- Patient Assessment & Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough auditory assessments, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing.
- Evaluate patients hearing health by reviewing their medical history and conducting physical examinations.
- Diagnose hearing loss and balance disorders and determine the appropriate treatment plan.
- Treatment Planning & Consultation:
- Provide recommendations for hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive listening devices based on patient assessments.
- Explain treatment options and their benefits to patients, ensuring they understand the impact of their hearing loss and available solutions.
- Guide patients in the proper use and care of hearing aids and assistive devices.
- Hearing Aid Fitting & Counseling:
- Fit, program, and adjust hearing aids and other hearing devices to meet individual patient needs.
- Offer counseling on lifestyle changes, coping mechanisms, and communication strategies to improve patients overall hearing experience.
- Conduct follow-up appointments to adjust hearing aids and monitor patient progress.
- Education & Patient Support:
- Educate patients and their families about hearing loss, rehabilitation strategies, and device maintenance.
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and repairs for hearing devices.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in audiology and hearing technology to ensure patients receive the best care.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress.
- Provide reports and recommendations to referring physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and clinic policies regarding patient confidentiality and data management.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals:
- Work closely with ENT specialists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care for patients.
- Participate in case discussions and collaborate on complex cases to optimize treatment outcomes.
- Education:
- Masters or Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D. or M.A. in Audiology).
- Licensing/Certification:
- Valid audiologist license to practice in state.
- Certification by relevant professional bodies (e.g., American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Audiologist, preferably in a clinical setting or hearing clinic or FRESHERs
- Experience in fitting and programming hearing aids and other hearing devices.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of audiological testing techniques and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to patients in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Proficiency with audiology equipment, software, and tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
