- Define and own the architectural vision for our AWS cloud platform, DevOps toolchain, and engineering delivery practices across the organization
- Lead the design of scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems that meet the demands of a high-volume retail and e-commerce environment
- Establish and enforce infrastructure-as-code standards, CI/CD pipeline patterns, and platform engineering best practices across all engineering teams
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, architectural patterns, and tooling to continuously advance the capability and maturity of our platform
- Partner with engineering leadership, security, finance, and product teams to align infrastructure strategy with organizational and commercial objectives
- Provide technical mentorship, architectural guidance, and career development support to DevOps and platform engineers across the organization
- Lead cloud migration, modernization, and re-architecture initiatives, including the transition of legacy retail systems to cloud-native architectures
- Define and drive SLOs, SLAs, and error budget policies, embedding a culture of reliability and measurable service quality across engineering
- Own disaster recovery, business continuity, and multi-region resilience strategies, with particular focus on protecting revenue during peak retail events
- Conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling sessions, and cloud cost optimization analyses, and present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Represent the engineering organization in vendor relationships with AWS, HashiCorp, and other strategic platform partners
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering, with at least 3 years in an architect or senior technical lead capacity
- Deep, demonstrable expertise in AWS across a broad range of services including EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, RDS, Aurora, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, and Control Tower
- Strong command of Terraform and/or OpenTofu for large-scale infrastructure-as-code, including module design, state management strategy, and governance at the enterprise level
- Proven experience designing and operating Kubernetes clusters at scale, with EKS preferred
- Expertise in CI/CD architecture using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent platforms, including trunk-based development, feature flagging, and progressive delivery patterns
- Deep knowledge of cloud security principles including IAM least-privilege design, network segmentation, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks relevant to retail (PCI-DSS, SOC 2)
- Experience with the HashiCorp ecosystem including Vault, Terraform Cloud/Enterprise, and Consul and\or Secrets manager
- Strong observability and reliability engineering background using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing platforms
- Demonstrated ability to influence, align, and inspire cross-functional engineering teams around complex architectural decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical strategy to executive and non-technical audiences
- On call duties as needed
- Familiarity with Fastly, Signal Sciences, Cloudflare, or other CDN and edge security platforms relevant to retail commerce
- Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance frameworks
- Background in platform engineering and internal developer portal design using Backstage or similar tooling
- AWS certifications including Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional
- Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from ouroffice.
