They also oversee wages and other service conditions, work to prevent child labor, and may be involved in skill development and training programs. Key duties and responsibilities Worker safety and welfare: Oversee and evaluate the safety, health, and welfare of workers in factories, construction sites, and other workplaces. Industrial dispute resolution: Prevent, investigate, and settle industrial disputes between labor and management. Law enforcement: Enforce labor laws and regulations, which includes inspecting workplaces, documenting violations, and potentially recommending legal action for non-compliance. Harmonious relations: Foster better relationships between management and labor through communication, dispute mediation, and by promoting welfare programs. Wage and condition oversight: Ensure compliance with regulations regarding wages, working conditions, and other benefits. Child labor prevention: Strengthen vigilance against child labor and work on the rehabilitation of child workers. Skill development: Impart training and skill development to improve worker efficiency and employability. Advisory role: Act as an advisor to management on labor laws, policies, and best practices for worker welfare. Counseling: Provide counseling services to employees on various issues. Record keeping: Collect and record evidence during inspections, such as worker statements, wage details, and employer information.
