
Consultant – Packaging Capital Engineering

- Support the US-based packaging engineer in providing project management leadership on capital project installations with business teams and key stakeholders including scope definition, budget development, resource selection/management and schedule management.
- Assist with packaging technical leadership throughout the project life cycle including equipment/component selection, system design and procurement.
- Review and ensure compliance to General Mills specifications and standards of construction on 3rd party designs. Partner with General Mills internal engineering standard owners to clarify and refine specifications.
- Support the management of the external engineering team within the packaging engineering discipline.
- Assist with the development and management of capital budgets within the packaging discipline including regular cashflow cost tracking reporting and communications, asset close-out and accurately managing spend to budget and timing commitments.
- Support the procurement process for equipment and installations including review of bid packages and bidding support.
- Support construction activities and field change authorizations as necessary.
- Requires occasional travel, including some extended time possibilities over weekends and holidays. Travel is variable ranging from 0% to 10% during project execution and start-up, With an overall average of approximately 5%.
- E./B.Tech in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in packaging line installations and commissioning in food or beverage industry.
- Understanding of packaging materials (flexible, rigid), machines (form-fill-seal, labeling, shrink wrapping).
- Experience collaborating with international teams or within a corporate environment.
- Ability to travel occasionally to the United States
- Project Engineering experience including scope definition, cost estimation and tracking, EAC estimation and scope management.
- Experience in plant operations and industrial environments understanding equipment design and impacts to materials, labor, and work processes.

- PG Diploma in Packaging (e.g., from Indian Institute of Packaging).
- Packaging Engineering experience; troubleshooting, performance improvement.
- Understanding of Food Manufacturing Regulatory Requirements (GMP's, Food Safety, sanitation practices and design criteria.)
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement and Vertical Start-up tools and processes.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience in managing end-to-end packaging capital projects.
- Familiarity with high-speed automated packaging lines, serialization, and traceability.
- Vendor management experience across Indian and global equipment suppliers.
- Strong understanding of packaging sustainability trends (recyclability, biodegradable options).
- Mandatory hands-on capital project management experience in the Food or FMCG industry, including high-value and complex projects.
