Job Summary:As an Electrical Wiring Harness (EWH) CHS Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and integration of electrical wiring harness systems within automotive chassis applications, focusing on CHS (Capital XC) projects. Your role encompasses overseeing manufacturing drawings of wiring harnesses, engaging with suppliers to address queries, managing change processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will utilize your expertise in selecting terminals, connectors, fuses, relays, wires, and adherence to relevant standards to deliver robust and efficient wiring solutions.Responsibilities: * Design and Development: Spearhead the conceptualization and execution of electrical wiring harness systems tailored for CHS (Capital XC) projects within automotive chassis applications. Consider functional specifications, electrical architecture, and chassis dynamics while ensuring manufacturability.
  • Integration Management: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and chassis integration groups, to seamlessly integrate wiring harnesses with chassis components. Ensure compatibility, reliability, and optimal performance.
  • Manufacturing Drawings: Oversee the creation and review of manufacturing drawings for wiring harness assemblies. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Supplier Interaction: Engage proactively with suppliers to address queries, review specifications, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of quality materials. Effective supplier management is essential for project success.
  • Change Management: Manage change processes related to wiring harness designs, ensuring timely implementation and communication of modifications to relevant stakeholders. Maintain documentation and track changes to ensure compliance and traceability.
  • Component Selection: Utilize your expertise to select terminals, connectors, fuses, relays, wires, and protective coverings for wiring harness assemblies. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and performance criteria.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping and testing phases to validate wiring harness designs. Evaluate functionality, durability, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and safety standards adherence.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost reduction through value engineering, alternative materials, and process enhancements while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, validation reports, and engineering change requests (ECRs). Facilitate effective communication and knowledge transfer.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical wiring systems and automotive electrification. Leverage this knowledge to enhance design processes continually.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders across various departments. Provide technical expertise, resolve integration challenges, and align efforts towards achieving project objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master's) preferred.
  • Proven experience in electrical wiring harness design and development within the automotive industry, with a focus on CHS (Capital XC) projects and chassis applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX) for 3D modeling and drafting of wiring harness assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring standards (e.g., ISO 6722, SAE J1128), automotive electrical architectures, and chassis dynamics.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes relevant to wiring harness production, such as injection molding, extrusion, and automated assembly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards governing automotive wiring systems, such as ISO 26262 and IATF 16949, is advantageous.
