Department: Fire & Life Safety Engineering -Water International
Reporting to: Design Engineering Head / Engineering ManagerKey Responsibilities (Design & Engineering)
- Develop fire protection and detection system designs, including fire water networks, sprinkler systems, foam systems, clean agent systems, fire alarm, and gas detection systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and system layouts using AutoCAD/Revit or other design tools.
- Perform hydraulic calculations using tools like Pipe Net for firewater systems.
- Selection and sizing of fire pumps, water storage tanks, and protection system components.
- Gas suppression system like NOVEC1230, FM200, Inter and Co2 system.
- Develop control logic for fire alarm and detection systems & Gas release panel.
- Coordinate with HVAC, electrical, process, and instrumentation teams to integrate fire protection systems.
- Review and interpret client specifications and tender requirements to ensure technical compliance.
- Ensure all designs comply with international standards and codes such as SBC, SEC, SAF, NFPA, UL, FM and Middel East local authority requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation including Basis of Design (BoD), design calculations such as Water demand, Pump capacity and pipe sizing, equipment datasheets, system descriptions, and technical reports.
- Review vendor and subcontractor technical submittals for compliance.
- Support procurement with technical bid evaluations (TBE) and vendor coordination.
- Develop BOQ (Bill of Quantities).
- Provide technical support to site teams during construction, installation, and commissioning.
- Interface with clients, consultants, AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction), and internal stakeholders.
- Attend design review meetings, HAZOPs, and project kick-off sessions etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, PIPENET and hydraulic calculation tools.
- Clean agent system (e.g., Ansul, Kidde, Minimax, UL/FM etc)
- Familiarity with fire alarm system review of programming and configuration (e.g., Simplex, Notifier, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of fire codes and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Team player with proactive coordination skills.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in fire protection system design and engineering, preferably in Water Desalination.
