- Design and develop the overall architecture of an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) for Li-ion batteries used in submarine applications.
- Integrate sophisticated monitoring, diagnostic, and control algorithms to ensure optimal battery performance.
- Ensure adherence to stringent naval safety standards, incorporating redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms.
- Architect embedded control systems, including sensor interfaces and communication protocols.
- Collaborate with electronics teams for the development of PCBs, power electronics, and thermal management solutions.
- Develop and implement real-time software for accurate battery state estimation, including State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), and State of Power (SOP).
- Design and implement robust fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with MIL-STD and other naval defense standards for underwater systems.
- Engineer solutions capable of operating reliably under harsh submarine conditions such as high pressure, vibration, humidity, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Integrate AI/ML-driven predictive analytics to enhance battery lifecycle management.
- Develop adaptive algorithms for load balancing, energy optimization, and mission-specific performance requirements.
- Incorporate cybersecurity measures to safeguard critical submarine energy systems.
- Work in close coordination with naval R&D organizations, defense contractors, and procurement agencies.
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, testing procedures, and validation reports.
- Support prototype development, system testing, and qualification processes.
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of Battery Management Systems (BMS) or power electronics.
- Strong understanding of Li-ion battery chemistry, electrochemistry, and energy systems, preferably in marine or submarine environments.
- Proven expertise in embedded systems, control algorithms, and industrial communication protocols such as CAN, RS485, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with defense and safety standards, including MIL-STD, IEC, and DO-178/DO-254.
- Hands-on experience with engineering and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, and ANSYS.
- Prior experience in naval, defense, or aerospace applications.
- Knowledge of thermal management solutions for high-capacity battery systems.
- Exposure to AI/ML applications in energy storage or power systems.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective documentation and collaboration skills.
- This role plays a critical part in advancing India s self-reliance in next-generation naval energy systems.
