This role ensures that accurate and up-to-date geographic information is available for planning, monitoring, and executing construction projects. The Associate - GIS leverages GIS technologies to integrate spatial data with other project management systems, ensures regulatory compliance and safety standards, and provides critical data insights that help optimize construction workflows and decision-making processes. Through meticulous data collection, analysis, and visualization, this position contributes to the efficient and safe development of airport infrastructure.Responsibilities:Data Collection and Management:Gather and process detailed spatial data from airport construction sites, utility layouts, and facility structures using advanced GIS technologies such as GPS, drones, and total stations.Systematically store, organize, and catalog all spatial data in the GIS database, maintaining a clear data history that can be accessed, updated, and shared with project stakeholders to support construction accuracy and workflow efficiency.Data Analysis and Visualization:Perform comprehensive analysis of collected geospatial data to derive insights that assist in construction decisions, such as calculating resource requirements, determining optimal equipment placement, and assessing the impact of construction on nearby operations or infrastructure.Develop clear, visually engaging maps, diagrams, and data-driven illustrations that communicate complex geospatial data in an accessible format to help construction teams understand site layouts, identify potential challenges, and improve project planning and communication.Integration of GIS with Other Systems:Facilitate the integration of GIS data with other essential systems used in airport management, such as asset management, facilities maintenance, and construction management software, ensuring seamless data flow across platforms and reducing data entry redundancies.Monitor and verify that GIS data is compatible with the airport's broader digital infrastructure, such as CAD and BIM software, so that spatial data can be easily shared and interpreted by project teams across various technical disciplines.Quality Assurance and Data Accuracy:Conduct regular quality checks on spatial datasets to ensure the precision, completeness, and relevance of information related to construction zones, utility networks, and infrastructure elements.Proactively identify and resolve any discrepancies in GIS data by coordinating with field surveyors, data collectors, and project managers.Regulatory Compliance and Safety Monitoring:Implement safety monitoring protocols by mapping out restricted access zones, hazardous construction areas, and protected zones within the airport, helping ensure safe operations and adherence to safety requirements throughout construction projects.Regularly update GIS data to reflect changing site conditions and ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations by coordinating with safety and compliance teams to keep spatial data aligned with industry regulations and standards for airport construction zones.Support for Construction Project Management:Provide ongoing GIS support to construction managers by supplying updated spatial information, maps, and location-based analysis as the project progresses, facilitating timely adjustments and informed decision-making in line with spatial realities on-site.Act as a point of contact for the construction team on geospatial issues, offering assistance in overcoming geographic challenges, streamlining workflows, and minimizing risks through proactive data management and spatial insight.Key Stakeholders - Internal:Head - Engineering ServicesProject ManagersAirport Operations TeamEngineering TeamSafety and Compliance OfficersIT DepartmentAsset Management TeamFacilities Maintenance TeamGIS/Data Management TeamSenior ManagementKey Stakeholders - External:Contractors and SubcontractorsRegulatory Authorities (FAA, local aviation authorities)Surveying FirmsEnvironmental ConsultantsUtility ProvidersEquipment SuppliersLocal Government AgenciesAirport Tenants and AirlinesExternal Consultants (Engineering, Safety, etc.)Qualifications:Educational Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.Certification in GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification, GIS Professional (GISP), or other relevant GIS certifications) may be preferred.Additional courses or training in construction management, airport operations, or safety standards would be advantageous.Work Experience:10+ years of experience in GIS-related roles, preferably in construction, infrastructure development, or airport management.Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, or similar tools for spatial data management and analysis.Familiarity with construction workflows and the integration of GIS data into project management systems.Knowledge of aviation safety regulations and airport construction protocols would be a plus.Previous experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with external stakeholders like contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies is beneficial.
