Senior Category Specialist - Global Procurement

The primary responsibility for this role of Sr. Category Specialist in the India Knowledge Center (IKC) of United Airlines is to support the tactical buying team, as well as other category managers in the US team.
- Responsible for team of buyers managing direct tactical procurement of aircraft and engine spare parts inventory
- Sourcing of Aircraft and engine components, negotiating prices and conditions, developing purchasing strategies to reduce United's costs while ensuring compliance with all financial controls, including SOX compliance
- Supporting new contract execution, contract redlining and SOW negotiations. This includes coordinating with Legal/Tech ops/Finance/ other teams, as well as interpreting contract language, identifying non-compliance events, and supporting corrective actions.
- Providing support, as needed, to one or more of the following categories for the business: Aircraft Maintenance, Engine Leases, Aircraft Components, etc. This includes supply market analysis, requests for proposals (RFP).
- Managing business relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers including routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes and support them with data analytics requirements using tools like Excel, Foundry, SQL, Spotfire etc.
- Analyzing and interpreting large complex data and information necessary to guide the development of total cost of ownership (TCO) strategies and financial modelling
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a quickly changing environment.
- Bachelor's degree
- Finance, Engineering, Economics, or another business-related field
- 4+ years of procurement/sourcing, supplier management, or finance experience
- Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral communication and people skills
- Works well in high-paced cross-functional environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Organized, detail-oriented, thorough and professional
- Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- MBA/ Master’s degree
- Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts
- Experience working in the transportation or airline industry
- Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes
- Experience working on any of the mentioned categories: Aircraft and engine maintenance, components procurement
