We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer – R&D to support new product development, formulation optimization, and performance enhancement for our piping and fittings portfolio. The role involves preparing new formulation, conducting trials, validating product quality, and collaborating with production, Lab, design, QA, and tooling teams to commercialize new products
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve formulations for uPVC/CPVC/HDPE/PP pipe and fittings systems
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction (VAVE) without compromising quality and compliance
- Support new product development, prototypes, and lab-scale validation
- Collaborate with production teams to scale-up successful trials into full-scale manufacturing
- Optimize extrusion and molding processes to improve product performance
- Evaluate new raw materials, stabilizers, additives, processing aids etc.
- Conduct testing as per BIS/ASTM/ISO standards and preparing technical reports
- Coordinate with production, QA, and suppliers during trials and scale up
- Participate in resolving field complaints through root cause analysis.
- Benchmark competitor products to drive improvements in performance, durability, and cost.
- B.Tech/M.Tech/MSc/PhD in Polymer, Chemistry, Chemical or Materials Engineering
- 5 years of experience post BTech/MTech/MSc or 2-3 years of experience post PhD in R&D within the pipe/polymer/additive manufacturing industry
- Hands on experience with pipe/fittings extrusion, molding, and polymer testing will be an added advantage
- Strong understanding of polymer and adjacent materials
- Process optimization, data analysis, and problem-solving.
- Good documentation and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques and procedures
- Independent problem-solving ability to organize project plans and resources
- Ability to present project progress/outcomes to key stakeholders
