This is an exciting opportunity for university graduates to start their career in scientific publishing. You will be joining a truly global, friendly and intelligent team offering you huge growth opportunities.About the RoleYou will be part of our editorial support teams managing one or more of our scientific sections. This requires frequent and consistent contact with scientific editors, authors, and editorial referees. Scientific literacy in the TOPIC sciences is required for the role of the Editorial Section Manager.ResponsibilitiesEnsure the smooth operation of sections within the journal through collaboration with our international scientific editors.Continuously develop the editorial teams of the journal and ensure trusted relationships with the scientific editors of Heliyon.Manage high volume of internal and external e-mail correspondence, providing exceptional customer service to authors, reviewers, and staff.Guide manuscripts through an online database from initial submission through to final editorial decision.Perform technical and administrative checks on manuscripts for compliance with the journal’s standard after submission, revision and in preparation for acceptance.Monitor the peer review process with a goal of obtaining timely feedback from editors and reviewers.Collaborate with colleagues across the business on projects to improve Heliyon.RequirementsHave a scientific background in medical or life science.Have a talent for exceptional communication in written and spoken English, and a focus on hospitality.Possess an enthusiastic attitude, great analytical skill and the ability to pay close attention to detail.Be able to adapt to change, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and to prioritize individually.Have great interpersonal skill within an international team.Be able to work equally well collaboratively or individually without continuous supervision in an ever-changing environmentBe PC proficient with expertise in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Excel).Work in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
