A School Bus & Van Driver ensures the safe, timely transport of students to and from school and activities, following assigned routes and traffic laws. Key duties include conducting vehicle safety inspections, maintaining passenger behavior, ensuring cleanliness, and assisting students with loading/unloading.Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Transportation: Operate buses or vans to transport students to/from school and field trips, adhering strictly to traffic laws and school policies.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, lights, fuel, brakes) and maintain a clean interior.
  • Student Safety & Management: Supervise students, maintain discipline on the vehicle, and assist them during loading/unloading.
  • Communication: Alert parents or administration about delays, accidents, or behavioral issues.
  • Route Knowledge: Follow established routes and schedules consistently.
Requirements
  • License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger/school bus endorsement.
  • Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Age/Background: Must be over 21, pass a background check, and pass DOT physicals.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and a passion for working with children.
Working Conditions
  • Schedule: Split shift hours (mornings and afternoons).
  • Environment: Exposure to traffic, weather conditions, and noise from students.
