- Supervisors and managers should demonstrate effective safety leadership for the health and safety arrangements of all subordinates and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises
- Responsible for being familiar with the Company’s Quality policies and taking an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System
- Maintains service quality as an immediate priority when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement
- Lead the research, planning and implementation of new programs and protocols for the organization
- As a member of the RD&E executive team, actively participate in the management of the company including strategic planning, operations planning, and yearly plan execution
- Provide oversight and leadership to Managers responsible for successfully achieving RD&E projects while ensuring goals for the team are clearly understood, monitored, and achieved
- Coordinate and collaborate with other members of the executive team to achieve company profitability goals
- Provide a framework that will allow the engineering department to develop, execute and measure departmental goals
- Be a culture ambassador for WFRD by upholding and promoting adherence to the company’s mission and values
- Lead teams through activities that continuously improve Delivery, Quality and Cost within RDE
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to explore new approaches, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage and coordinate activities of engineering/manufacturing engineering departments regarding design, layout, document control, vendor qualification, material qualification, root cause investigation, and manufacturing
- Develop, plan and implement department programs, goals and objectives
- Support the continuous improvement process throughout the company
- Travel to global manufacturing, engineering, supplier and customer facilities
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, to inform management of the current status of projects
- Manage a team of engineers and technicians
- Lead the Lab facility development progress and ensure it is operating flawlessly with the right resources are in place to execute testing activities
- Measure and evaluate engineering performance
- Represent engineering and manufacturing engineering on cross-functional teams
- Foster cooperation and communication with other engineering groups within the company to maximize the value of being a global organization and across all Weatherford functional groups to ensure flawless product/service performance and an ideal customer experience
- Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
- Supervisors and managers should communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities in their reports
- Plan and execute the budget
- Plan and execute facility capital plan
- Ensure staffing levels are maintained in proportion to the expected business level for each organization
- All employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their expenses
- Drive for continuous improvement in the use of company funds
- Understand and articulate to the engineering team the financial goals of the Mumbai Technology Center
- Costs incurred should be within the approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure
- Mentor, guide and coach direct reports to expand their skills and capabilities and build expert depth within the department
- Develop and maintain a sound organizational structure staffed with qualified personnel
- Set clear goals, establish performance metrics and regularly evaluate team members' performance and progress
- Lead and motivate the direct reports efforts of engineering sites in multiple countries
- Manage talent decisions towards linking critical roles to the value they need to generate
- Actively contribute to the development & delivery of key technical product line training course programs to support personnel competency & business growth
- With the assistance of HR, recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions following career path requirements, transfers and disciplinary actions
- Employees have a responsibility for developing their careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance & business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experience
- Employees should engage regularly with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential
- Supervisors are expected to actively engage their employees to support talent management through Weatherford’s performance management process, including but not limited to talent assessments, succession planning & regular coaching opportunities
- Supervisors should collaborate with Human Resources & Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment & retention of key personnel & to foster an environment that supports the attraction & retention of a high performing talented workforce
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years of engineering experience.
- 8+ years of leadership experience in a multi-discipline team, preferably consisting of engineering, software, and science staff members.
- Experience with all aspects of engineering in the product life-cycle, from preliminary research, through product development, portfolio expansion, sustaining and value engineering, and product replacement/retirement.
- Experience in planning and execution of projects.
- Experience in workforce and capital planning.
- Excellent leadership skills that will enable effective, reliable and appropriate decisions and judgments. Significant experience in effectively leading, facilitating and motivating large teams
- Work effectively across a diverse multicultural multilingual mutlidisciplinary community
- Proven technical problem-solving ability
- Excellent influence and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well with all levels of personnel

- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
- Knowledge or MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), PTC WindChill and JD Edwards OneWorld System
- Must be self-motivated and an effective team manager
- Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
- Must have good organizational skills & an ability to work to tight & sometimes challenging deadlines
- Must be able to make decisions and be able to identify & implement appropriate improvements
- Possess an enthusiasm for challenging established practices
- Master’s degree (MBA) or Masters Degree in engineering or related field preferred.
- Prior experience with upstream oil and gas.
- This role will be based in Mumbai and require international travel of up to 25%.
