Role Description: This role is part of Arcadis' Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis' offices globally. To develop industry knowledge of international standards through internal technical training, certifications and continuing education. To demonstrate leadership on assigned projects and build capability of the team on power systems study OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables including complex reports, proposals, presentations with the Brisbane Power Team. Conducting load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies of power networks. Conducting protection coordination and setting study. Conducting power system transient studies including generator connection (GPS), switching transients and motor starting. Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation and leading the engineering effort for project including providing technical and performance oversight for members of the power team. To manage selected projects, project task/responsibilities as assigned, and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality and timeframe targets. To deliver fully documented designs to meet Client objectives and Arcadis quality system requirements. To develop the technical competency of direct reports/ junior team members and ensure application of relevant international and Australian standards and engineering knowledge in various projects. TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply engineering knowledge, techniques and tools complying with international design standards and Australian Codes and Standards relevant to assigned project. Prepare document package for the appropriate project design submission stage complying with codes and standards and delivering the study with high quality. Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering models and calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements. Prepare and register all relevant documentation and study reports and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis and customer requirements. Leading interdisciplinary coordination as required for the project. Leading technical issue resolution processes. Liaise with other disciplines and ensure all requirements are understood. Understanding scope and change in scope when it arises. Use software packages as required for the design and delivery Role accountabilities: COMMERCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Record man-hour charges accurately into weekly timesheets and ensure correctness of project and non-project man-hour charges. Proactively manage selected projects (or components of projects), take responsibility for resource allocation, manage subcontractors, manage the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensure the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance and client feedback. Identify opportunities and driving implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximise the profitability of design components. Pursuing new opportunities, identifying, and documenting scope, schedule, budget and exclusions. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Resource and develop skills and knowledge base of more junior engineers assigned on projects. Liaise with client, vendors and other stakeholders engaged in the project. Self time-management. OTHERS: Liaise with Arcadis lead offices representatives and other consultants as appropriate to the project. Working to achieve project delivery on time to budget and to a high standard in accordance with Client expectations. Take responsibility for defined tasks within prescribed limits. Gain experience and proficiency in Arcadis systems and procedures. Become familiar and compliant with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required relevant to the role from time to time Qualifications & Experience: An ideal candidate for this role will have the following qualifications and experience: At least 7 years' experience in power system study projects preferably in a consulting environment. Consulting experience in power projects in Australia is preferred. Experience with the codes and standards relevant to power sector and electricity market. Experience in developing complex models and conducting static and dynamic studies on ETAP, SKM PTW, PSSE, DigSilent Powerfactory or similar software packages. Graduate of Bachelor of Technology/ Science in Electrical Engineering from recognized University. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations. Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management. Ability to provide solutions to technical problems. Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills. Actively continue to develop technical knowledge and new emerging technology through regular CPD training. Professional registration or working towards it with any leading engineering body such as Engineers Australia is preferred although not mandatory. Highly Regarded Skills General familiarity with the Australian electricity market, electricity generation, transmission and distribution practices and related topics. Experience in renewables such as solar and wind power generation plants. Computational design, design algorithms and automation of data manipulation.
