As a Quality Control Technician specializing in Water Treatment Chemicals for Cooling Towers, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and compliance of chemical products used in cooling water treatment processes. Your role involves conducting quality control tests, analyzing chemical compositions, and maintaining adherence to industry standards and regulations. The Quality Control Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of cooling tower systems by monitoring and optimizing water treatment chemical performance.Key Responsibilities:Chemical Analysis and Testing:
  • Conduct chemical analysis of water treatment chemicals used in cooling towers, including corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, and pH adjusters.
  • Perform tests to assess chemical composition, concentration, purity, and effectiveness according to established protocols and specifications.
  • Water Treatment Performance Monitoring:
  • Monitor the performance of water treatment chemicals in cooling tower systems by analyzing water samples, corrosion rates, scaling tendencies, and microbiological activity.
  • Conduct field tests and on-site assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of chemical treatments and adjust dosage rates as needed.
  • Quality Assurance Procedures:
  • Implement quality assurance procedures to ensure the consistency, reliability, and compliance of water treatment chemicals.
  • Conduct batch testing, incoming material inspections, and quality control checks to verify product specifications and conformance to standards.
  • Laboratory Testing and Equipment Operation:
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation to perform chemical tests, including titrations, spectrophotometry, turbidity measurements, and microbial assays.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibrate instruments, and perform routine maintenance to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, quality control data, and laboratory procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management systems.
  • Prepare certificates of analysis (COAs), technical specifications, and documentation for regulatory submissions and customer inquiries.
  • Quality Control Audits and Inspections:
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to verify compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in external audits and certifications by regulatory agencies, customers, and third-party auditors.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and quality enhancements in water treatment chemical manufacturing and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and optimize cooling tower performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience in chemical analysis and quality control.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry or water treatment sector, with a focus on cooling tower applications.
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles, analytical techniques, and quality control methodologies related to cooling water treatment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality management systems (ISO 9001), and good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment, software applications, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation abilities.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Work primarily conducted in laboratory settings, with occasional fieldwork and exposure to chemical hazards and safety protocols.
  • Regular use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and chemical reagents.
  • Flexible working hours may be required to accommodate testing schedules, production demands, and quality control activities.
